A year ago,
I really started a new journey in life. The journey has brought amazing people
into my life and unimaginable experiences. It has also resulted in an ever
deepening perspective on life. As I wrote in
The Depths of a Simple Smile, a
smile on our face tells volumes of where we want to go and what brings joy and
happiness to our lives. Through this realization, I know this amazing journey
is just beginning and has so much more to offer. It requires me to be open to
His plan and the signs around me. Life will not keep a smile on our face, if we
fail to have faith and believe in God and ourselves. Secondly, societal norms of
the United States will not provide us happiness. In having traveled to
Appalachia and 3
rd world countries, life’s happiness does not come
from a high powered job making six figures that runs our life 24/7 or any job
that controls our life and takes away our joy. It does not come from having
hundreds of ‘friends’ on Facebook or ‘followers’ on Twitter or Instagram.
Instead, life’s achievement comes from following our heart and sharing His love
with others. As we reach out to guide, support, and just genuinely care for
others, our lives are fulfilled a hundred fold. When we venture away from the
TVs, iPads, and text messaging to explore the beauty and people surrounding us
we find limitless happiness. Not to say, the journey will never have struggles
or downs, but in faith, we will persevere and be made stronger through those
trials and tribulations.
Are you ready to come aboard and go on your own amazing
journey?
Here are some fundamental guidelines for the journey:
- To find what motivates your smile and make it a
reality; therefore, achieving a continuous smile.
- To make a difference in the lives of those near
and far helping them grow and have their own continuous smile.
- To go out into the world away from the mesmerizing
technology and engage with others and the magnificence of the world.
- To take full advantage of today’s opportunities
as tomorrow may be too late.
- To have faith and believe in God’s plan and your
own abilities to fulfill the plan.
For me, the journey takes me
across the world, but for you, the journey may be right in your own backyard.
The objective is finding what brings a smile to your face day in and day out.
It is not what brings a smile to me, your significant other, your children, your
parents, or your friends. In finding what makes you personally smile, your life
becomes more fulfilled and the joy and happiness radiates from you to those
around you. It is not saying to leave out others in your life but to engage
them into your life’s purpose and help them find their own smile. I pray that
you will come aboard to find that smile and true happiness, if anything stay
